New Minnesota Flag Follows Design Best Practices

The state of Minnesota is getting a new flag. After a months-long process, a state-run commission narrowed a field of over 2,100 submissions down to one.
The winning design is simple: A dark blue field on the left represents the night sky and the shape of Minnesota. A bright blue field on the right evokes the waters of the Land of 10,000 Lakes. And a white eight-point star is the North Star, per the state’s motto, “L’étoile du Nord.”
