GANDRA, Portugal – Portuguese furniture manufacturer Wewood has launched a new bedroom collection in collaboration with award-winning German designer Christian Haas, known for his furniture, lighting and glassware designs.

The collection’s centerpiece is the Platform bed, which features a solid wood frame and a slender profile, supported by discreet metallic legs. Upholstered back cushions function as a backrest and headboard.

“Platform is a testament to the impeccable craftsmanship and thoughtful design that Wewood is renowned for,” said Haas. “The blend of solid wood, slender profile and luxurious upholstery creates a unique piece that stands out in any bedroom.”

Available in three sizes, the  bed allows for personalization with a selection of woods and textile options. It can be easily dismantled, the company says, providing ease of transportation and shipping.

In addition to the bed, the collection includes the Duplex and Triplex side and bedside tables, two pieces crafted from solid wood with rounded edges.

“The Duplex and Triplex side and bedside tables represent a natural design approach with clear shapes and a minimal graphical statement,” Haas continued. “It adds a touch of contemporary elegance to living spaces, embodying the essence of modern design.”

Production time is between six and eight weeks. Items are available in four color options: walnut, oak, oak black and oak smoked. The company did not reveal pricing.

Haas, who has won the Red Dot Design Award and Elle Decoration International Design Award, currently lives in Portugal.

Wewood specializes in small production runs of customizable solid wood furniture. It regularly works with an array of mostly European designers.
