Celebrity real estate: Lleyton and Bec Hewitt make grand $10.3 million return to

Celebrity royal couple Lleyton and Bec Hewitt are back in Sydney seven years after they left to live in Melbourne.

Title records this week reveal they are the record-setting buyers of a Glenhaven estate for $10.3 million.

It is a return home for former Home and Away soapie star Bec, who comes from nearby Kenthurst, and where the couple sold their previous Sydney home in 2016 for $5 million.

Lleyton, the former world No. 1 tennis champion and current Davis Cup captain, purchased their new home on the quiet from former Parramatta Eels great Nathan Hindmarsh, whose interior designer wife Bonnie Hindmarsh is the co-founder of Three Birds Renovations that rebuilt the property in 2018.

For their $10.3 million (no mortgage required) the Hewitts have secured a resort-style, coastal estate with a six-bedroom residence billed on Bonnie’s Three Birds Renovations website as Bonnie’s Dream Home.

The residence boasts vast open-plan living areas, a separate office, a guest cottage, cabana, swimming pool, storage barn and, of course, a tennis court.

The Hewitts were for years the reigning king and queen of Australia’s gossip magazines, which hit peak ridiculousness in 2005 when at their Sydney wedding they had to hire some 50 security guards to keep paparazzi and the public at bay, and the nuptials were accompanied by hovering helicopters and followed by a boat chase across the harbour.

The Hewitts left Sydney in 2016, having already sold their Palm Beach weekender two years earlier for $4.63 million, and purchased their Melbourne home in Toorak that year for $12.7 million.

Two years ago, they sold up in Melbourne, pocketing $15.2 million from bankrupt businessman Dan Baxter, and purchased a Gold Coast home in Burleigh Waters for $4.3 million.

Their new digs smashed Glenhaven’s suburb record by $1.5 million but is topped locally by a $14 million high set in June in Middle Dural by a house bought by Gavin Grace, a Ballarat-based director of laboratory equipment supplier Westlab.
